It is during major snowstorms that a neighborhood gets to know each other, helps each other and a neighborhood comes together. La Grande Bordée (The great snowfall), a temporary public installation created in consortium with the Rainville-Sangaré and NOS architects firms, celebrates this Nordic village spirit.
Rappelant formellement les pelles et les forts de neige, l’installation en acier inox roulé est ponctuée d’assises en billot de bois. En soirée, un système d’éclairage léger dissimulé dans ceux-ci illumine chaque alcôve faisant apparaître un blizzard, comme par magie.
Formally reminiscent of shovels and snow forts, the rolled stainless steel installation is punctuated with wooden log seats. In the evening, a lighting system concealed within them illuminates each alcove, creating a blizzard, as if by magic.
