Les Courtepointes se dressent sur les 1,5 km de l’artère commerciale et créent un impact visuel fort qui anime le quotidien. Par leur envergure, elles deviennent des repères identitaires qui forment un parcours narratif et interactif fédérateur.
The quilt-like art installtions can be found along a 1.5 km stretch of Fleury Street, creating a striking visual and brightening up daily life in the area. Due to their immensity, the structures become visual markers that form a unifying narrative and interactive route.
Chaque courtepointe rassemble près de 300 cubes interactifs aux couleurs vives. Ces couleurs dynamisent la déambulation des passants, en invitant à y exprimer des motifs abstraits. De plus, grâce à la collaboration d’un comité d’historiens, chaque courtepointe témoigne d’anecdotes historiques marquantes sur le quartier. Les composantes appropriables et historiques stimulent l’appartenance au territoire et renforcent l’esprit de communauté.
Each “Courtepointe” is made of nearly 300 brightly coloured interactive cubes. The colours intrigue the people walking by, inviting them to create abstract designs. What is more, thanks to the help of a committee of historians, each quilt offers historic anecdotes about the neighbourhood. The possibility of changing the quilts and making them their own, along with the historic components, create a sense of belonging to the area and strengthen community spirit.
